Wont play my songs

All I want is to be able to mess with a high quality equalizer while listening to my favorite music which I have carefully accumulated in my phone (in whichever format iTunes will allow and PLAY). The idea of testing my hearing was very appealing, since Ive seen many rock shows, but though the "music" app will play the formats I have my favorite albums in, this app cant play any of it. Unfortunately, this app is useless to me.
